About Us

Our Nature Based Preschool is a proposed Teacher-Led Early learning service, for whanau in the rohe of Wāima and the broader Hokianga we offer an Early Learning Experience which emphasises quality Kaiako and tamariki relationships. The culture of the center will be professional and inclusive of all regardless of their background and origins. Tamariki will have opportunities to build their love of learning through experiencing Te Tai Ao, the natural world. They will experience an environment which promotes connection with the whenua and the natural surrounding environment through regular and repeated excursions. Tamariki will be engaged with Kaiako who have nurturing hearts for tamariki.

 Our Program

For whanau in the rohe of Wāima and the broader Hokianga we offer an Early Learning drop-off nature based experience which emphasises quality Kaiako and tamariki relationships.

 

The culture of the center will be professional and inclusive of all regardless of their background and origins. Tamariki will have opportunities to build their love of learning through experiencing Te Tai Ao, the natural world.

We will cater to Tamariki ages 0 -5 years of age. With a particular focus on the 3 - 6 years range. 

​

We will combine Reegio Emilia, Nature Play with the Maramataka. Focussing on the gentle movement and undulations of the seasons and practical applications os the Maara Kai.

Excursions

What are your earliest memories as a child? For me, it is outside, collecting shells with my Nanny. Hobbling along a pebble beach trying to avoid the oyster shells that threatened my little soft feet. 

​

My nanny stopping to ooh and aaah over my shoulder. Generously eating the shell-filled oyster I had smoshed off the tan rocks of the Paroa Bay inlet to feed her. Year after year I returned to this spot, I have deep memories fishing from a dinghy as a 5 year old with landlines, building tee tree huts in the Ngahere.

These are the experiences we wish to create with tamariki. 

Tamariki  will experience a learning environment which promotes connection with the whenua through regular and repeated excursions. Most importantly Tamariki will be engaged with Kaiako who have nurturing hearts for tamariki.

 

We are experienced at taking young children into the environment and being present with them. Allowing them to slowly move about, engage and explore.
